Transit of Mercury 2019 |
The 2019 transit was due to start at 12:35GMT on 11th November in England, to be of maximum extent at 3:20pm and to end at 6:04pm - this was well after sunset however (at 4:15pm), so the full transit would not be able to be seen. As in 2016, I intended to use my reflector telescope plus webcam and the "long lens" capability of the Canon SX60 digital camera to image entirely digitally. Once again however things didn't go to plan, mainly because of the very poor weather conditions. I was thus quite happy to have captured a few images with which I could to describe the event.
