The 2016 transit was due to start at about 12:12BST on 9th May in England, to be of maximum extent at around 4 o'clock and to end at 19:42 - not so convenient as in 2003 due to the low altitude of the Sun at the end of the transit. Whereas I could only work by projection in 2003, this time I intended to use my reflector telescope plus webcam and the "long lens" capability of the Canon SX60 digital camera purchased for the Faeroes eclipse expedition to image entirely digitally. Things didn't go entirely to plan I think it's fair to say (do they ever?) but I was able to capture sufficient images to tell a good story.
