Example 1: A large company needs to share files with hundreds of suppliers and partners using sub-groups and contact groups.
Gummins is an equipment manufacturer with 20000 employees in 25 branch offices. They need a secure file server
to share files with about 1000 suppliers and partners. They need fine granular access control over which
users can access which folders. To create and manage users efficiently, they need the service to support
batch user creation and provisioning; to set folder permissions efficiently,
they need to share folders to sub-groups and contact groups (mailing lists)
instead of entering 100s of usernames / email addresses.
With DriveHQ’s service, Gummins can easily import user accounts from an Excel spreadsheet. More importantly,
Gummins can now organize their users by creating sub-group administrators.
The sub-group administrator can create and manage sub-users within his or her own sub-group.
Folder access permissions can be set for multiple users, sub-groups and contact groups.
Example 2: An insurance company that needs to enforce data backup on all
computers and centrally monitor and manage backup tasks.
Company PPP is an insurance company. They have about 500 employees, 700 computers incl. servers and 10TB of data.
In order to ensure each employee properly backs up his/her computer, they adopted DriveHQ’s online backup service.
Using DriveHQ’s Active Directory integration service, they can easy import 500 user accounts to
the DriveHQ cloud system. They can even use their own logo and landing page.
With DriveHQ Online Backup client software, they can backup any number of PCs, laptops, servers and MACs.
Moreover, DriveHQ offers "remote backup management" feature, an admin user can monitor and manage
all backup tasks on all computers, ensuring that everything is properly backed up.
The total cost for 500 employees, 700 PCs/servers and 70TB of data is only $5,000/month.
Example 3: A multi-national legal service firm needs to share files with clients,
and backup files & emails for efficient restore
CALaw is a multi-national legal service firm with over 1000 contracted lawyers.
The lawyers travel all the time so they need to access their files and emails from anywhere.
They also need to share files with their clients securely, and ensure that there sensitive
business data is secure in addition to backing up all files and emails.
After testing various solutions, CALaw found that folder synchronization works fine for individual use,
but for such a large organization, they were in need of a service that mimics traditional file servers
with an advanced granular access control system. Creating separate users with selective roles is also
very difficult and expensive to configure with traditional folder synchronization- styled storage providers.
They also cannot find a backup service that can reliably and efficiently backup emails. There are some companies
offering PST backup or Exchange server backup. Not only is the cost high, but such solutions are inefficient and unreliable.
A PST file or Exchange database file can be very large and can easily take days or weeks to upload.
On the other hand, if a user accidentally deleted an email, to restore the email from a PST or MS Exchange
server backup will also take days to download the PST or Exchange file. Then they find DriveHQ EmailManager
client software, which can backup and restore emails one-by-one with a schedule of their choosing.
Restoring an email is just a drag and a drop away.
The total cost for 1000 lawyers, 1000+ computers, and 100TB of storage space is only $10,000/month.
Had they used other services, the cost would have been at least $20,000/month.
Example 4: Department level, branch level or project level
Larger companies tend to have more bureaucracy. People worked at large corporations understand
the trouble of submitting support issues to their IT department, and to getting the problem solved
often takes time. Due to increasing security measures, it is virtually impossible to share a folder
to an external client using an in-house IT system.
Because of the limitations that go hand-in-hand with in-house IT systems, many large enterprises
have chosen to use DriveHQ within each department. Aside from cost savings, having an integrated
cloud IT system makes the team much more efficient.
