Some time ago I made a 1932 Ford Model B Sedan
Delivery from the old AMT kit. The model was build as a stock ’32
Ford Model B. I was looking for some kind of decals to put on the
side of the car and found some nice ones in the AMT 1937 Ford Panel
Delivery kit, the Olympic Laundry decals.
A few months later I decided to put together a 1923
Ford Model T Delivery Van from all the spare Model T Delivery Van
parts. I had received some extra parts from a fellow model builder
so I could use those too. I was thinking about a color scheme for
that model and remembered the nice color combination I used on the
’32 Ford Model B, maroon fenders with an off-white body. And
wouldn’t it be nice to use the same Olympic Laundry decals again?
Old and new, a 1923 and a 1932 Ford from the same company. Ofcourse
I needed another set of the decals so I went ‘shopping’ in my stash
of kits. I noticed that I had several other kits from Ford Delivery
Vans, the 1937 Ford Panel Delivery and a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery,
all Revell kits I bought some time ago.
And then I suddenly had an idea: why not build a
complete fleet of Olympic Laundry cars. All with the same decals,
all with the same color scheme!
Well, it did take some months, but soon I ‘owned’ a
complete fleet of Ford Delivery cars from the Olympic Laundry
Company.
However, there was a ‘missing link’ between the 1923
and 1932 model: the 1928-29 Model A. And a problem too: nobody ever
made a model kit for the 1928-1929 Ford Model A Panel Delivery. So I
decided to convert a Revell kit from a Model A Pickup to a 1928 Ford
Model A Panel Delivery model. The cab was slightly modified and
received a delivery rear section which was completely scrap build
with Evergreen styrene sheets and strips.
And here is the result!
