This
model is the 1937 Cord Convertible. The Lindberg kit #72323.
Someone had the 'good' idea to split the body in a lot of parts. Why
I don't know, it still doesn't make any sense to me. Anyway, after
studying all the parts I soon found out that the front fenders were
far from correct. On the first picture you can see the original on
the right and the corrected fender (almost done) on the left. The
retractable headlamps covers were molded ON the fenders,
instead of engraving the outlines for them IN the fenders.
Yeah, great. I removed them and made new outlines for the covers
IN the fenders.

The
bumper brackets were waaay too big, they would have added almost 2
feet in real size to the car. Allright, maybe not that much, but
some resizing had to be done. And I removed the plastic between the
three bars on the bumpers. Man, the chrome on that kit was so bad,
that just handling it was enough to remove most of it. You are
warned! I'm still not happy with the fitting of the hood, it just
sticks out too much forward, but I decided to let that go. I already
had too much issues with that kit. |
