The
1934 MG K3 Magnette was an old Crown kit, #231. There was a 1911
Rolls Royce Silver Ghost in the same series, but I’ve never seen
that kit anywhere.
Well,
is was a kit, but with barely 36 parts and instructions for how to
play with the car it was actually more a toy.
It
should have some kind of wind-up mechanism installed in it, so you
could wind the car and when released it would go like hell for a few
seconds. I guess....
The instructions were
all in Japanese language, but some good soul did a translation job
and typed them out.
As I said, it was
basically more a toy, so I had to make some modifications to get at
least a decent model. On the front I removed the strange 'bulge'
where the wind-up mechanism would have protruded. I made a correct
chrome MG decal for that place. The kit had no decals, so I made a
few MG decals for the radiator and the spare wheel. For the
dashboard I had some left-over decals for the small instuments. The
large rev counter was hand painted.
