The Monogram 1927 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix kit.
I did build this kit a long, long time ago when it was first
released. Complete with the driver, guard rail and straw bails. The
plastic grass matt did not survive, it has deteriorated a long time
ago.
I bought this kit some years ago again and although it came without
the original box it came with an extra tire and two engine hoods as
a bonus.
I still consider this as s very nice kit, but I couldn’t resist this
time to add a lot of details. Fuel lines, oil lines, spark plug
wires.... |
|
Some of those lines were a bit of a challenge to get
in the right shape: |

|
And I added all the brake cables too: |
|
|
The first test fitting: |
|
Here are a few of the parts I added, like the brake
cable fittings, the hand oil pump, the leather buckles for the hood
straps and the details I added to the converted spare tire mount:
|
|
The exhaust system was not correct, it was too
straight and too long, so I corrected that: |
|
And here are the pictures of the finished model. Most
of the aluminium parts were brush painted as the tamiya rattle can
silver was much too glossy. I used that only on a few parts. |

A close-up of the engine with some more added details
like the throttle linkage: |

As I mentioned before, the kit came with two engine
hoods so here is the ‘closed’ version: |
