As an enterprise cloud IT service provider, DriveHQ strives hard to offer the best quality service to all of our members. Service abuse is not only illegal in itself, but also affects our regular users and damages our company reputation. DriveHQ has zero tolerance towards service abuse. Once detected or reported, DriveHQ will immediately disable the bad user accounts.
Recently, we are seeing an increase in service abuse. For example, we have seen a lot of spammers sending spam emails that include a DriveHQ email address as their contact or reply-to email address. After carefully examining the email headers, we found that these spam emails were not sent using DriveHQ's email hosting service. For example, the following email headers indicate the email was sent using Yahoo's free email hosting service:

DriveHQ has implemented many technologies to detect and fight service abuse. In fact, it is very hard for spammers to abuse our SMTP service to send spam emails. However, in this case, these spammers are not using our SMTP service. They are using our email service to receive replies, which is significantly harder to detect automatically.
As DriveHQ mainly targets enterprise / business service markets, many of our business customers are paid members. Free service members usually only use our service for online storage, file sharing, drive mapping, folder sync, FTP and cloud backup. Very few users use our free email hosting service.
Therefore, we are making the following changes:
- We will stop offering email hosting service to new free service members immediately.
- Email hosting service to existing free service members (incl. Free Members and True Members) will also be stopped on Feb 1, 2015.
- Email hosting service to Paid members (incl. sub-users of paid group accounts) will not be affected.
- DriveHQ EmailManager / Email Backup service will not be affected.
We estimate only a very small percentage of users will be affected. For those affected users, we are sorry for the inconvenience, but there are many other free email hosting services available. For paid members that use our email hosting service, you will see fewer emails filtered by your recipients.
