While I, the writer of these articles, find the default colour scheme (red on "silver") easy and restful to read, I have been made aware that this is not true for everyone. Accordingly, I have implemented a scheme whereby a choice of colour schemes is available - click the "COLOURS" button to cycle round them.
The first alternative is a simple black text on a light grey background, which was suggested by my informant. The second alternative uses colours recommended by the Macular Society as being helpful in cases of age-related macular degeneration.
Once selected, the chosen colour scheme remains in force for all pages that have the colour scheme functionality enabled, until changed again from the Gallery index page: it will revert to the default scheme if a return is made to the Astronomy Section page. All the "observation" pages have the functionality enabled, but the "mini-sites" documenting several of my solar eclipse trips currently do not. I am working on it though so watch this space!
