******************************************************************* GAME FOUR -- Friars (Maddux) at Fishbiscuits (Wellemeyer). Facing elimination from the playoffs, the Fishbiscuits erupted for 6 runs in the first two innings, highlighted by a bases loaded 3-RBI double from Alfredo Amezaga in the 1st inning off of 1995 CDBL Cy Young award winner Greg Maddux. DBL would score 5 more runs over 6 innings to put the game well out of reach. Todd Wellemeyer had a stellar game for DBL, throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings, giving up 4 hits and struck out 12 as the Fishbiscuits blanked the Friars 11-0 to live another day. The two aces returned for round 2, and through the first 3 innings continued their shutout ways. In the bottom of the 4th, Matt Holliday walked and Albert Pujols hit a 2-run blast to put DBL up 2-0. In the 6th, Pujols singled and Milton Bradley doubled to put 2 runners on. Melky Cabrera grounded out, allowing Pujols to score. Robinson Cano smacked a base hit RBI single for a 4-0 DBL game. In the 7th inning, Jose Bautista hit a bat flip solo home run. With 2 out and 2 on, Milton Bradley went yard for a 3-run blast. Max Scherzer pitched the last 3 innings, giving up no runs for the save (with that durability, perhaps he should try starting!). DBL continues their blowout ways, winning game 5 by a score of 8-0 (19-0 over the past 2 games!) to send the series back to Point Lomas.
