Neither team would score in the 9th inning, so the contest would go into extra innings. By the time the top of the 12th rolled around, Jose Valverde was on the mound for Dedham, the 4th pitcher of the game for the Destroyers. Mike Hessman greeted him with a solo home run, putting Milwaukee up 3-2. The Pilots continued the run parade, tagging the Destroyers for 5 more runs to go up 8-2 by the time Hessman rolled up to the plate for his 2nd at bat of the inning. Mop up reliever Todd Coffey got the nod in the bottom of the inning and retired the batters in order. Milwaukee wins game 4 by a score of 8-2 in 12 innings, a game which saw 12 pitchers make appearances. Both teams have a day of rest before they start again at the top of the rotation with the GT Conference Finals tied up. FIVE -- Pilots (Blanton) at Destroyers (Guthrie). With the bullpens getting a workout in game 4, both starters had extra pressure to perform well. In the bottom of the 3rd, Miguel Montero hit a 0 out double, moved to third on a fly out by Mark DeRosa and scored when Chone Figgens hit a scorcher to Chase Utley, who couldn't handle the ball. Error to the infielder and Dedham up was up 1-0. Both starters ended up pitching well. Joe Blanton pitched 7 innings, giving up only the unearned run. Meanwhile, Jeremy Guthrie was heading into the top of the 9th, pitching a shutout. First batter up, Jason Smith, lined out. Gary Sheffield flied out. With 2 outs on the board, Ichiro Suzuki singled. Gurthrie was pulled in favor of Jeremy Accardo. Accardo faced Kevin Millar, 2 outs, top of the 9th, Pilots down by 1, tying run at first. Millar would not come through, striking out on a 3-2 pitch.
