NOTES: The 2006 season is complete in the CDBL. The Minutemen won their last game of the season (their 9th straight) to capture a share of the Gehrig division title with the Carlsbad Surfers, each team winning 100 games. It was the Surfers' first division title since 2000, and Concord's first division title since 1987 (and first in Concord). Georgia lost their last game of the season, giving Boston sole ownership of the Tiant division title, their first since 2002. Manhatten Beach notched the league's best record at 104 wins and the Aaron division title, their first since 2003. Madison wins the Paige division for their second straight title. The playoff bracket is as follows: (1) Manhatten Beach Mashers (104-58, Aaron Division Winner) vs. BYE (2) Madison Muckrakers (95-67, Paige Division Winner) (HFA) vs. Dallas SuperSquad (93-69, AP Conference Wildcard) (1) Boston Bulldogs (100-62, Tiant Division Winner) vs. Round 0 Winner (2) Concord Minutemen (100-62, Gehrig Division Winner) (HFA) vs. (3) Carlsbad Surfers (100-62, GT Conference Wildcard) Round 0 Matchup (Best 2 of 3, Home-Away-Home) (4) Georgia Pines (99-63, #1 League Wildcard) (HFA) vs. (5) Milwaukee Pilots (95-67, #2 League Wildcard) For the 100 win teams, Concord won the tiebreaker vs. Carlsbad to be the Gehrig Division winner in the playoffs by virtue of their 8-4 regular season series victory. The Bulldogs get the top seed in the conference by virtue of their 5-4 regular season series victory over the Minutemen. In terms of the draft, there were 7 teams that qualified for the 95 loss bracket. Of these teams, 6 of them were in the playoffs last year (only the division winning Mashers and Muckrakers from last year kept their winning fortunes). But the 95 loss Trout, who have not made the playoffs since 2003, gets next year's #1 overall pick. 1. Elk Grove Trout 66 95 (Last Made Playoffs 2003) 2. Point Lomas Friars 47 114 (Last Made Playoffs 2005) 3. DBL Fishbiscuits 58 103 (Last Made Playoffs 2005) 4. Topeka Stingers 62 99 (Last Made Playoffs 2005) 5. Avila Dragons 64 98 (Last Made Playoffs 2005) 6. Hong Kong Cavaliers 65 96 (Last Made Playoffs 2005) 7. Tualatin Thunder 66 95 (Last Made Playoffs 2005) The 88 game winning Gold Diggers will draft 8th. In records news, Tualatin's young superstar Miguel Cabrera set a new doubles record, cracking out 81 to break Chuck Knoblauch's 12 year old record. The free swinging Minutemen won a division title, but they also set a high water mark (low water mark?) for most strikeouts with 1411. The Alphaville Caution are the first team in league history to fail to record any complete games, and the Friars tied 2 other teams in history by failing to record a single team shutout. Thanks again for another great season! Playoff information will be sent out shortly.
